A Site in Progress

This site is a repository of videos I have made over the years and a mechanism for making and organizing new shorter and more targeted videos to replace them.

When I started teaching in the 1990s, I taught 3 hour long classes that were split up into 90 minute segments. So I didn’t blink an eye at making hour long videos back in the 2000s. Over the years, the videos have gotten progressively shorter, but many were still 20-30 minutes long. After a couple years making content for Tik Tok, those vids make me cringe.

So, in this site, I am laying out the legacy videos and and trying to chunk them out into a series of short videos. I am also trying to give a textual summary so that you can get the general idea without even watching the vid. Each page will have a mix of the following elements:

  • Legacy Videos: The older legacy videos are the starting point and some pages will only have these on them until I make the types content listed below. As I make the following types of content, they be be place above the legacy videos on the page, effectively burying them.

  • BLUF Text: Written “bottom line up front” summary.

  • TLDR Videos: 5-ish minute videos explaining the BLUF text or giving an overview of the subject in question

  • Deep Dive Videos*: 5-10 minute videos going into a particular aspect of the subject. Basically each video covers what would have been a PowerPoint slide in the legacy video.

  • Hot Take Videos: This is a catch-all category for social media videos I have made on the subject or closely related subject

(* I we will be NOT be abbreviating this category. I would find it amusing to talk about D&D vids but I fear someone would read “DD” differently)
